  John Pryor committed suicide by cutting his throat with a pocket knife in a swamp approximately one half mile fro the house. He was 47 years of age and living/working on his father;s farm in Kirkland. At the time of his death, he was survived by his father, Thomas, William and Margaret (never married). Margaret also lived on the farm. The coroner attributed this 'rash act' to the effects brought on by 'grip'.
